If you were asked to picture ideal math instruction in an elementary classroom what components might your vision include? What might students and teachers be doing? This session will explore instructional vision and why it’s important to teaching and learning, especially for high-quality, equitable mathematics. While we unpack vision in the context of K-5 math, unveiling and exploring vision is important to any content area or grade level. In this session we will engage in drawing our visions of high-quality equitable math instruction, share how the drawing task has been used state-wide in various contexts, and consider how the drawing task can be transferred to your context.
